DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official qualifications awarded by the French Ministry of Education to prove the French-language skills of non-French candidates.
There are six independent diplomas, which correspond respectively to the six levels of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). These diplomas are valid indefinitely.

If you are not French and would like your French skills to be recognized for personal or professional purposes, you can take a DELF and/or DALF exam.

The DELF/DALF certificate is a mark of quality and shows that you have achieved a certain level in the language that you are learning.

At each level, 4 skills are evaluated: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
